Chapter 299: Future Plans and Cure
Chapter 299: Future Plans and Cure
They explained everything that was happening to Elrandir. The mage’s expression changed drastically throughout the explanation.
"Are you serious?" Elrandir said, "If this is true, then we are in deep shit."
The freezing of the dungeon floors was something that would kill a lot of people if no one did something about it.
Damian had to do something, and he required Elrandir’s help.
"So, can you do it?" Damian asked.
He needed Elrandir to utilize his magic to show the images of the freezing problem to everyone in the dungeon floor, and that required a lot of power.
Elrandir was thoughtful, "I can do the spell, but if we will make everyone to see it, then we need a huge source of power to make the it work."
"What kind of power source?" Damian asked.
"We need a type of ore called Mana Stones, but the amount that we need is huge. Like, a lot," Elrandir said.
A spell capable of sharing images to everyone in the dungeon’s tenth floor required way more energy than what Damian expected. Their initial plan was to share the image to a few influential members, but that didn’t mean they would do something about it.
Their best bet was to make everyone see it — both influential and common folk — and that will make sure everyone will work together to leave the tenth dungeon floor to survive the upcoming freezing problem.
They sat around the table and talked about their possibilities. Elrandir was the mage there, and he knew a lot of things. Damian listened to it, and only gave his opinion from time to time, trying his best to let the old mage think.
"There’s a few unexplored islands across the sea. There are a few humans there, but not many of them, and as far as I know, the Mana Stones there are intact. We can travel there and make use of it to perform the spell. That’s our best chance," Elrandir said.
The mines scattered throughout the land where most of the humans were living in had people who own them, and Damian couldn’t go there and steal the mines and the ores. He was powerful, but others were too, and he could not go against too many people.
Elrandir was quite anxious. "We need to travel tomorrow."
Time was running short. They had no idea how fast the freezing was, but according to the things Elena and her organization knew about, it was fast.
Damian agreed with it.
"Let’s rest for the day and start our journey tomorrow. Also, Elrandir, we have another problem," Damian said.
He gestured for Cassia and Nessia to come forward to talk with the mage and explain their situation, hoping that Elrandir would be able to help them.
Elrandir listened to them, and he was shocked. He analyzed Nessia up close, checking what her condition was.
"She’s born with a powerful mana core capable of storing too much mana, and her body cannot handle it anymore. We can perform a ’ritual’ to take out all the surplus mana from her body, and that will heal her," he said.
Cassia was thrilled when hearing that. "Can we do it now?" she asked.
The situation was not as simple as she had expected.
"We need to do it in an isolated place because the mana from her body will create an explosion. It’s impossible to do it here with all the magical formations I have. Also, I need to prepare the ritual which requires ingredients and time," Elrandir said.
They talked more about it with him giving them more information, and in the end, they all agreed to perform the ritual in one of the remote islands they would be going to next. That was the perfect place for them.
Elrandir also prepared a magical concoction with a few of the magical herbs he had in his garden.
"Drink this," he said, "It will reduce the symptoms you are feeling, giving us more than enough time to perform the ritual."
Nessia drank it in one gulp. "Thank you, thank you."
The two sisters could not believe they had finally found an answer to Nessia’s problem. It all felt like a dream, and Cassia was thankful for everything Damian had done.
During the night they spent in Elrandir’s cabin, Cassia found the opportunity to go speak with Damian to thank him. She went to the room Damian was staying at for the night.
Cassia knocked, and Damian let her in.
"This cabin is amazing," Cassia said. "It looks small from the outside, but this place is huge."
The cabin was certainly under the effect of magic. It looked like a mansion from the inside with lots of bedrooms and other areas, like the research lab Elrandir had.
The furniture was of one of the highest quality. Mages had a lot of money, it seemed.
"Yes, it is," Damian said. He was lying on his bed when Cassia came to his room. "This bed makes me feel like sleeping on the clouds."
"It is that good? I still need to try mine," she said.
After they talked about their plans with Elrandir, they ate something together and relaxed near the fireplace. Damian was one of the first to go to his room because he was too tired.
"It is. Is something wrong, Cassia?" Damian asked.
"Uh, no, everything is fine," she said, "I just came here to thank you for what you did for my sister. It is only because of you that we found a cure for her."
Damian smiled, "It was not a big deal. I am glad that I could help you."
He looked at Cassia and said, from the bottle of his heart, "You look tired, Cassia. Go rest. Your sister needs you in a good shape to take care of her."
Cassia nodded and left. Damian also needed to rest, and prepare his mind for yet another journey. Elrandir had said that the journey would be dangerous, and there was a big chance of them dying in the process.
Damian was excited for it.
