Chapter 1289 - 649: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc - Ning Wan, Don’t Give Me That Attitude
Upon hearing Ning Wan’s words, Lin Musen was momentarily startled, but quickly came back to his senses and blinked as he said, "It’s very possible that you might be my wife in the future, so I need to be nice to you to secure my future position at home."
Well... that’s the reason.
Ning Wan, however, twitched the corner of her mouth upon hearing this, and then replied, "That’s not funny at all."
With that, she lowered her head to eat the lobster in front of her.
Lin Musen’s smile grew deeper, showing no embarrassment or regret at all. After watching her eat lobster for about half a minute, he withdrew his gaze and continued cutting his steak.
To truly treat Ning Wan to two meals, after eating at the Western restaurant, Lin Musen took her to stroll around the night market, walking all the way without driving. To put it another way... walking is better for digestion.
By the time Lin Musen sent Ning Wan back to the Ning Family mansion, it was already ten o’clock in the evening. The time wasn’t too early but not too late either, as An City had just entered its true nightlife.
The car stopped outside the Ning Family Mansion. Ning Wan didn’t let Lin Musen take her inside, as it was indeed a bit late.
Lowering her head to unbuckle her seatbelt, Ning Wan turned her head with a smile to look at Lin Musen before getting out of the car, speaking, "Thank you for today, it’s the first time I’ve been this happy in a long while."
Previously, all her time and energy had been focused on Xi Mohan, without ever considering herself. This was the first time she felt so joyous, shaking off all worries, strolling through the night market with Lin Musen, and buying quite a few things.
Lin Musen handed over all the things they bought at the night market to Ning Wan, "No need to thank me, I should be thanking you for keeping me company tonight. Honestly, I’ve rarely visited night markets since I was young."
Ning Wan took the items, looked at them briefly, and then handed one of the bags directly to him, "I saw this little wind chime at the night market. I noticed your car doesn’t have anything hanging, so this would be nice."
Lin Musen glanced at the bag but didn’t take it, instead suggesting, "Why don’t you hang it yourself? I’m clumsy, and might break it if I try to hang it myself."
Ning Wan was taken aback but agreed it made sense, so she didn’t refuse. She opened the bag and took out a gift box that the vendor used to package the wind chime, then opened it to take out a small wind chime.
The wind chime was just a small bell, which made a crisp and pleasant sound when taken out. The sound was indeed nice.
Though the night market items were quite cheap and mostly stall goods, this little bell was of decent quality and workmanship.
With the car’s interior lights on, Lin Musen watched as Ning Wan skillfully hung the wind chime, his eyes revealing a hint of brilliance.
One must say, getting along with Ning Wan was truly enjoyable. He couldn’t understand why Xi Mohan disliked Ning Wan so much, even to the point of aversion...
After hanging the wind chime, Ning Wan looked at it, feeling quite satisfied, her smile widened, "Okay, it’s done. I’ll be heading inside now."
Lin Musen responded with an "Hmm," but then asked, "You’re starting school in a few days?"
Ning Wan nodded honestly.
Lin Musen thought for a moment, then asked Ning Wan, "Have you ever been to an amusement park?"
Ning Wan blinked, uncertain of Lin Musen’s intentions, but answered very honestly, "I went there when I was little. Does that count?"
"It counts. I haven’t been even once since I was a kid. How about accompanying me this Saturday?"
"Sure." This time, she didn’t hesitate or refuse.
Directly pushing open the car door, holding the items bought from the night market, Ning Wan got out of the car. Before closing the car door, she reminded Lin Musen, "Drive safely, I’m heading back inside."
Lin Musen sat inside the car, smiling as he nodded, "Go ahead. I’ll watch you enter before I leave, since you’re a girl."
This time, Ning Wan didn’t say anything further.
It wasn’t until Ning Wan walked through the gate that Lin Musen started the car to leave.
...
However, Ning Wan didn’t expect to see Xi Mohan outside the house.
A black car was parked there, with a man in a suit leaning against the car door and holding a cigarette in his hand.
At first, Ning Wan didn’t notice him; Xi Mohan was nearly hidden in the darkness. It was just a slight glimmer of light that caught her attention, and upon closer look, she discovered Xi Mohan’s presence.
Her steps paused slightly but quickly returned to normal, walking directly towards the mansion without glancing aside.
However, upon hearing the footsteps, the man turned his head to look at her. As soon as he saw her coming back, he tossed away the cigarette, straightened up, and as she passed by him, he reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her over with a slight force, making Ning Wan abruptly leaning against the car door in a single breath.
Ning Wan looked at the man in front of her with wide eyes, somewhat bewildered, noticing his face was extremely gloomy, and his eyes showed anger, causing her to inexplicably feel fear. It took a moment before she found her voice, "Xi Mohan, what are you doing? Let go of me."
The things she was holding, bought from the night market, fell to the ground due to Xi Mohan’s unrestrained actions, making a sound that resembled glass shattering.
But Xi Mohan held onto her arm more tightly, "Ning Wan, are you ignoring my words again?"
Ning Wan felt severe pain in her arm, as if it would be ripped from her at any moment. She couldn’t help but furrow her brow.
Hearing his words, she was momentarily stunned but soon felt anger rising in her heart, looking up at him with a cold laugh, "What did you say to me? Why must I listen to you? Xi Mohan, who do you think you are? Aren’t you just taking advantage of my affection for you? I’ve decided I won’t like you anymore, so why should I obey you?"
It was better that Xi Mohan hadn’t heard Ning Wan’s words; as soon as he did, he held her arm tighter, speaking coldly, "Ning Wan, stop giving me attitude, it will only make things harder for you."
At this moment, Ning Wan felt an urge to curse out loud.
——There are four more updates, it’s going to be very late.
