Chapter 219: Kobold Exclusive Mounts
Chapter 219: Kobold Exclusive Mounts
After his talk with Astravor, Leone returned to the underground tunnels to look for the Chieftain of the Kobolds, Caius.
Since he now had more mounts to spare, he planned to also give him a Blood-Crest Raptor, which his vassals used.
But, when he opened the mount shop, he noticed the [NEW!] notification, which caught his attention.
After clicking it, a few more Rank 2 Mounts appeared. And this time, it was Kobold Exclusive Mounts.
"We now have mounts meant for Kobolds?" Leone arched an eyebrow.
"Although the Kobolds are not part of the Aslan Tribe, they are still considered your allies," Daedalus explained. "When you completed the mission earlier and unlocked the Orc Exclusive Mounts, the Kobold Exclusive Mounts might have also been included in the package."
The young man smiled faintly as he browsed the new mounts. There were only around four of them, but it made him realize that these new mounts might just be game changers.
Why?
Because some of them specialized in digging, which would speed up their digging operations!
"Giant Moles, Armored Pangolins, Rock Monitor Lizard, Rockeater," Leone muttered. "A very decent lineup."
Aside from the Rock Monitor Lizard that specialized in carrying stuff, the other three were perfect for digging.
"Giant Moles are the perfect diggers," Daedalus stated. "The only downside is that they can only be used underground. The Armored Pangolin is also good because they can also be used as a mount above ground. As for the Rockeater, it’s more like a golem that eats rocks.
"The pros is that it has decent fighting capabilities, so if they encounter any danger while digging, the Rockeaters can fight it off, allowing the Kobolds to escape."
Leone pondered over it for a while, and eventually came to the conclusion that it would be faster if he simply asked the Kobolds what they needed.
Since the digging operation was an important project of the Aslan Tribe, Leone was willing to give the Kobolds 50 Uncommon Mount Tickets.
After hurrying to the Hidden Village and entering the Kobold Encampment, the young man immediately summoned Caius.
Titus decided to accompany his chieftain and see why Leone wanted to talk to them.
In response, the young man explained his reason for coming. After his explanation was over, Caius and Titus looked at each other in shock.
"Are you sure that we are allowed to receive something as precious as these mounts?" Caius asked.
"Of course," Leone replied. "Didn’t I tell you? We will support and protect the Red Scale Tribe. Consider this as part of that promise. I am willing to give you fifty of these mounts, so feel free to discuss what types you would like to have."
"Please give me a minute," Caius replied before turning to look at Titus. "Call the others. We need to discuss which ones we should take."
"Understood." Titus bowed respectfully before leaving the house.
Now that they were all alone, Leone thought that it was a good time to discuss the matter about the Orcs with him.
"Caius, I have formed a blood pact with Logan of the Ravage Tribe," Leone said calmly. "I understand that the Kobolds had suffered in their hands, so I’m not going to ask you to forgive them. I will also do my best so that the Kobolds and the Orcs won’t have to interact with each other unless it is absolutely important."
"Thank you, Leone," Caius replied. "As you have said, our clan doesn’t think too highly of the Orcs. The wounds on our bodies might have healed, but the ones in our hearts still remain.
"It will be a while before this grudge vanishes, so I hope that we will be able to live separately with them until everyone is finally able to move on."
This was also why Leone made a wall that separated the Kobold community from the rest of the Hidden Village.
In hindsight, he thought that it was a good move because it allowed the Kobold to have some privacy of their own.
The underground tunnel that they were digging through the mountain was now connected to the tunnel that the Aslan Tribe was digging.
However, Caius mentioned that it would be best if they created different paths so the Kobolds dug towards the northwest, while the Aslan Tribe dug towards the northeast.
Leone had high hopes for this project because two teams could produce two completely different results.
A few minutes later, Titus returned with the Kobold Elders.
After great consideration, they finally came up with the ratio for the mounts that they were going to receive from Leone.
"Twenty Giant Moles, ten Armored Pangolins, ten Rock Monitor Lizards, and ten Rockeaters," Caius said with a smile. "Thank you for the wonderful gift."
"You’re welcome," Leone replied.
Just as he expected, Caius decided to get more Giant Moles to aid them in their digging operation.
On the other hand, the ten Armored Pangolins were a hybrid of sorts. They could dig and carry the Kobolds underground.
They also had very good defense stats, which would be very useful if they faced anything down there.
As for the Rock Monitor Lizard, they could carry a few Kobolds on its back without problems. It would become the primary transport mount in the underground tunnels, as well as something that could carry heavy things if need be.
As for the Rockeaters, they could be left all alone, letting them eat rocks as much as they wanted.
Daedalus even said that Rockeaters could actually evolve into something good if they were to eat special ores or gems that they might consume while eating their way into the mountain.
Once Leone manifested the mounts, the Kobolds became excited after seeing the well-behaved monsters that listened to their commands.
Leone left the Kobold Camp in great spirits and headed to the exit of the mountain.
But before he passed through the threshold, he summoned three Blood-Crest Raptors, which he planned to give to the three middle-ranked chieftains.
Although he already had one Raptor spy per tribe, having two of them would be much better.
Also, he was serious when he said that he wanted to form a good connection with Duncan, Oswald, and Garen.
He and Daedalus noticed the rift between the middle-ranked tribes and the high-ranking tribes.
The three chieftains looked a little tense around Hagen and Malik. However, this was a good thing for Leone.
If all the middle-ranked tribes formed an alliance, then they would be able to become a strong faction that not even the high-ranking tribes could ignore.
This alliance would gain more prominence and influence once the Aslan Tribe won against the Darkmane Tribe.
By then, they could be considered a pseudo-high ranking tribe.
A tribe that no one would be able to look down on ever again.
