Chapter 791: Fortunately, You’re Still Here (2)
She lifted her head from Gu Ningyi’s embrace, gazing at his handsome face, and couldn’t help but reach out to touch it. Her voice softened, "Glad you’re still here."
The outcome of Qin Qian and Yuan Shen’s relationship made her sigh.
Ten years of love, ten years of entanglement, they gave each other the most precious ten years of their lives, and marked the deepest imprint in each other’s hearts. Unfortunately... they couldn’t end up together.
When Yuan Shen left the wedding and walked out of the church, she saw a crystal-clear teardrop fall from Qin Qian’s eye, but it quickly dropped and disappeared.
She didn’t know what Qin Qian was thinking at that moment. Perhaps she had some lingering feelings, perhaps a tinge of regret, or perhaps she wanted to chase after Yuan Shen, but eventually, she watched him leave and then turned to face her groom.
It’s not that love has faded, it’s that persistence can no longer hold.
I still love you, but I no longer want to be with you.
She and Gu Ningyi... almost drifted apart as well, almost forgot each other in this vast world. Fortunately, he was always waiting for her in the same spot, and luckily, she had the courage to walk towards him.
With a tacit understanding, Gu Ningyi seemed to think of their past too. He tightened his arms, his chin grazing against Dong Xin Yan’s temples, and he smiled, "Thank you for still being here."
Dong Xin Yan lifted her head and kissed Gu Ningyi on the lips.
Gu Ningyi embraced her, deepening the kiss.
As they kissed, they fell onto the bed. Gu Ningyi kissed passionately, the light in his eyes dimming with desire, a fire burning and rolling within him, his large palms roaming involuntarily over Dong Xin Yan’s body.
Suddenly, Dong Xin Yan reached out and grabbed his hand, stopping him.
Gu Ningyi paused, lifting his eyelids to look at her.
Dong Xin Yan curved her lips into a smile, her eyes sparkling, and said with a playful grin, "During this special time, forgive me for not being able to serve."
Saying this, she intentionally puffed out her belly.
Gu Ningyi’s burning and boiling body instantly felt doused with a bucket of cold water, extinguished in a moment.
This woman was definitely doing it on purpose...
"Only small-minded men and women are hard to care for," the ancient saying doesn’t deceive me!
He frowned deeply, glaring fiercely at Dong Xin Yan’s belly for a while, finally admitting defeat, resignedly getting up to head to the bathroom.
Reaping what he had sown... that’s the typical portrayal of him now.
When Gu Ningyi came out of the bathroom, Dong Xin Yan was already asleep. Lately, she had become more and more drowsy, sleeping like a gentle little rabbit, breathing lightly, her face calm in slumber.
He carefully crawled into bed, and once his body was warm, he reached out an arm, gently pulling Dong Xin Yan into his embrace. Then, he lowered his head to softly kiss her red lips, holding her tighter, and closed his eyes.
When the first ray of sunlight of the morning seeped in, Gu Ningyi slowly opened his dark eyes.
His wife was still sweetly asleep beside him. She lay on her side, facing towards him, her arms and legs sprawled across him, wholly dependent.
A sliver of sunlight fell on her profile, radiant and glowing.
Gu Ningyi’s dark eyes fixed intently on her, just watching, watching.
Perhaps happiness is just like this, kissing you before sleep, holding you at midnight, waking up to find you with me.
In his life, thankfully she was still there, and in her life, thankfully he was still there.
Gu Ningyi’s lips slowly curved into a smile. Bathed in the morning light, he lowered his head, kissed his beloved wife, and then closed his eyes again, falling back to sleep in blissful contentment.
