Chapter 312: Misunderstood
Chapter 312: Misunderstood
Rory nodded as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Of course. I already said we were staying here to watch over Terry."
If anyone’s minds had gone somewhere inappropriate, that wasn’t her fault. It was their fault for being too dirty-minded.
Rory had expected Vangar might misunderstand. She’d even thought Vincent probably would too. But she had assumed Yuel understood perfectly well.
Who would’ve thought that even he had misunderstood?
Knock knock knock.
The sound of knocking echoed through the room again. Still sitting on the sofa, Rory called toward the door.
"Come in."
The next second, the bedroom door opened. Jasper walked in carrying a blanket.
Completely familiar with the setup by now, he calmly walked over to the sofa and spread his blanket neatly on the other side beside it.
Yuel: "..."
So Xarion knew tonight was literally just sleeping. And Jasper knew too?
Yuel suddenly felt like he had missed something extremely important.
Very soon, Wen arrived as well. In his hands was... a fish tank.
"Master, can I sleep in the fish tank tonight?"
Wen carefully placed it on the coffee table beside the sofa.
Rory nodded casually. "As long as you’re comfortable."
Yuel: "..."
Even Wen knew.
Yuel slowly turned toward Rory.
"Rory... don’t tell me they’ve all slept like this before?"
At this point, he was certain Jasper, Xarion, and Wen had already experienced this arrangement before. Otherwise, there was no way they’d all come this prepared.
Rory smiled and nodded. "Of course."
Lying lazily on his blanket, Xarion lifted his eyelids halfway and glanced at Yuel. His cold tone dripped with undisguised mockery.
"We came here to stay with Female Master and watch over Terry. After all, we’re all pure-minded people."
He paused deliberately before adding, "Not like certain individuals whose brains are constantly full of filthy thoughts, twisting Female Master’s perfectly innocent intentions into something else entirely."
And he even shamelessly begged Female Master for "rewards."
Hmph.
Xarion was jealous. Blatantly, nakedly jealous.
Yuel paid absolutely no attention to the sarcasm.
Instead, he touched Terry gently on his shoulder and silently thanked fate that he had arrived first—and, more importantly, that he had worn something normal.
Then he remembered the two outfits he had recommended to Paros earlier.
A faint smile curved his lips as he spoke calmly.
"Then I’ll sleep on the floor too."
Since Jasper and Xarion weren’t sleeping on the bed, it was obvious they’d done this before during that previous group sleepover.
And tonight, all of them had spread their blankets beside the sofa.
Yuel could already guess what had happened last time.
Rory had probably slept on the sofa too.
"There are extra blankets in my room," Rory reminded him. "Go grab one yourself."
The weather was getting colder lately.
Even though high-ranking ability users like them weren’t afraid of a little chill, sleeping directly on the floor still wouldn’t be very comfortable. A blanket underneath would at least make it warmer.
Yuel smiled and nodded. "I’ll go get one now."
Very quickly, he returned carrying a blanket of his own.
Without hesitation, he spread it directly in front of the sofa—close enough that he could touch Rory with a single stretch of his arm.
Xarion immediately looked displeased. "Why do you get to sleep that close?"
Yuel answered as though it were completely justified. "Rory said she wants Terry to see her first when he wakes up."
He adjusted Terry slightly on his shoulder. "Of course I should stay closer."
Then he turned toward Rory with a soft smile. "Rory, I’m right, aren’t I?"
Tonight’s battle for affection seemed especially intense.
Still, Rory did want to stay close to Terry. So she nodded at Yuel.
"Mm. I want to stay close to Terry too, so Yuel can sleep there."
Xarion: "..."
He wanted a child to help him compete for affection too.
Knock knock knock.
The bedroom door sounded once more. Yuel instantly looked toward the entrance.
Xarion, Jasper, and Wen all turned their gazes there as well.
A faint smile lingered in Yuel’s deep blue eyes, along with a trace of poorly hidden amusement.
Earlier, he had only shamelessly pestered Rory for a kiss, so his embarrassment level hadn’t been too terrible.
But the next few people arriving... Now that was going to be entertaining.
"Rory, who do you think is standing outside the door right now?"
Sitting leisurely on the sofa, Yuel smiled as he asked the question.
Rory shot him a glare. "I don’t have x-ray vision. How would I know?"
This man clearly just enjoyed stirring up trouble and watching the chaos unfold.
She had just opened her mouth to tell the person outside to come in when Xarion suddenly spoke first.
"How about we make a bet?"
As he spoke, he casually placed a Rank Ten beast core onto the table.
"Guess who the next person to walk in will be. Everyone puts down a wager. Whoever guesses correctly wins everything."
"And what if multiple people guess correctly?" Jasper asked calmly.
Xarion flashed one of his usual half-dead smiles.
"Simple. If everyone guesses correctly—or everyone guesses wrong—then everything belongs to Female Master. And if more than one person gets it right, they split the winnings equally."
After speaking, Xarion glanced toward the door and smirked faintly.
"I’m betting it’s Vangar."
Yuel casually tossed one of his flower boxes onto the table.
"I’m guessing it’s Vincent outside."
Wen placed a rare mineral ore onto the table as well.
"I’m betting on Marshal Vangar too."
In his opinion, the most anxious person right now was definitely Marshal Vangar.
Jasper calmly took out a piece of rare metal.
"I think it’s Paros."
He felt Paros was far more desperate than either Vangar or Vincent.
After all, Vincent was already Rory’s partner—the first partner, no less.
Vangar was Rory’s official match. Even though they hadn’t formally bonded yet, it was only a matter of time.
But Paros?
He had no title. Naturally, he’d be the most anxious one here.
Yuel turned toward Rory with a smile.
"Rory, aren’t you going to guess too?"
Rory looked at the increasingly ridiculous pile of wagers on the table and the corner of her mouth twitched.
Knock knock knock.
The sound of knocking echoed through the room once more.
Outside the door, Vincent waited...and waited. When Rory still didn’t tell him to come in, his handsome brows immediately furrowed.
He knocked again, this time much more urgently than before.
"You four better behave yourselves."
Rory shot Yuel and the others a warning glare before quickly calling toward the door,
"Come in."
Click.
The sound of the lock turning rang out. The white bedroom door slowly opened... And Vincent appeared in the doorway.
He wore a sharply tailored military uniform, the clean-cut lines of the outfit emphasizing his broad shoulders and narrow waist. A wide black belt cinched tightly around him, outlining the lean strength of his body.
The silver metal buttons gleamed coldly beneath the light.
The fitted trousers wrapped perfectly around his long, straight legs, while polished military boots reflected a faint sheen across the floor.
The entire outfit elevated his usual cold, restrained aura to an almost dangerous level of temptation.
"Pfft—"
The moment Yuel saw him, he burst out laughing. He knew it. Of course it would be Vincent, the secretly shameless one.
With elegant composure, Yuel stretched out a hand and swept the beast core, mineral ore, and rare metal from the table toward himself.
"I win."
Xarion’s expression darkened instantly. Looking at Vincent standing at the doorway, he sneered mercilessly.
"Your Highness, are you here for a military briefing or a beauty pageant?"
Vincent stared at the room in stunned silence.
Everyone was casually dressed. Blankets were spread across the floor. Several people had already made themselves comfortable.
This situation... seemed completely different from what he had imagined.
Wen blinked thoughtfully with his pink starry eyes as he studied Vincent’s appearance.
So Master liked this kind of style?
He silently committed that information to memory. Maybe he should try it himself sometime.
Although he wasn’t part of the military and didn’t own an official uniform... There were plenty of uniforms sold in the online marketplace. All kinds of styles.
He could buy a few.
Hmm...
Should he add a pair of gold-rimmed glasses too?
Jasper said nothing.
He merely lifted his eyes and gave Vincent a long, unreadable look.
