Chapter 354: A Blissful Moment for Father and Son
Chapter 354: A Blissful Moment for Father and Son
"Aaron, someone is looking for you," the class adviser said, informing him.
Aaron and Kimmy were still playing inside the classroom when Dominique arrived.
"Teacher, is it my Uncle?" Aaron asked.
"My Dad?" Kimmy chimed in.
Their teacher shook her head and responded, "No. He said he was Aaron’s godfather. He is waiting in the playground."
Kimmy and Aaron exchanged puzzled looks with each other. They headed toward the door to take a peek.
"Aaron, it’s your Dad!" Kimmy whispered to him.
Aaron’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw Dominique. Without further ado, he ran in his father’s direction, while Kimmy just decided to stay behind.
"Daddd!" Aaron yelled, excitedly calling his father.
Dominique was sitting on a swing. He turned around upon hearing Aaron’s voice.
Aaron quickly hugged his father after reaching his spot.
Meanwhile, Dominique gently ruffled his hair while hugging him back.
"Have you eaten lunch, son?"
"Not yet, Dad!"
"Do you want to eat lunch with me? I’ll send you back here once we are done."
Aaron bobbed his head frantically. "I would love it, Dad. I’ll just message Kimmy that I won’t join her for lunch."
"If you want, we can bring her with us."
But Aaron shook his head. "Let’s do that some other time, Dad. For now, I want to be with you alone."
Dominique fell silent. ’There might be no next time, son,’ he thought.
He didn’t insist on inviting Kimmy to join her. Besides, he also wanted to be with Aaron alone... for one last time.
He brought Aaron to the nearest restaurant. They ate hearty meals while chatting happily. Aaron told his father about their school activities and his daily routine. Dominique just listened to his son attentively.
He seized this moment, observing his son as if he were engraving him in his memory.
’I feel so blessed to have a good and smart son like Aaron. He is very reliable, even though he is still a child. He acts maturely like an adult despite his young age.
"Son, you have to take care of your mom. Can you promise me that?"
Aaron bobbed his head. "Yes, Dad. I promise. Here. A pinky swear!"
The father and son hooked their pinky fingers at each other as a sign of their promise.
"Dad, I will also take good care of you until you grow old!" Aaron added, smiling broadly.
There was a tug in his heart when he heard Aaron’s last remarks. He somehow felt guilty for hiding things from his son.
’I came here to see him for one last time. I hope my son will not resent me for not staying by his side and for making this decision.’
Dominique reached out to wipe the sauce on the corner of Aaron’s lips.
"Thanks, Dad."
He just nodded, gently ruffling his hair. "You can order more food. How about an ice cream or a cake?"
"I’m already full, Dad. Let’s go to the music room, Dad, after this. Let’s play some instruments while waiting for my afternoon class to resume." Aaron suggested.
This was one of their bonding moments as father and son– playing different instruments such as piano, guitar, and drums.
"Okay, son. Let’s do everything you want today. Your Dad is not busy!"
Aaron’s eyes sparkled in delight. "Dad, since you are free today, can I just miss my afternoon class and be with you?"
Dominique didn’t reject his son’s suggestion. Just like him, he wanted to spend more time with Aaron and cherish this moment.
In the end, Aaron skipped his afternoon class and stayed by Dominique’s side. They also went to an amusement park, trying all the rides.
It was a blissful moment for the father and son, enjoying themselves. Aaron was clueless that Dominique had already planned to disappear from Sabrina and Aaron’s lives. He would no longer bother them.

At Sabrina’s Penthouse...
Sabrina was still troubled by Vladimir’s unusual behavior today. She felt like he had been avoiding her.
She racked her brain so hard, trying to figure out why Vladimir suddenly postponed their marriage registration. He didn’t give her any explanation at all.
"Was he upset about something?" she murmured.
It didn’t take long before Enzo joined her in the living room.
"What were you thinking, sis?" he asked her expectantly as he sat down next to her.
"It’s Vladimir. I still can’t understand why he refused to register our marriage today."
Enzo smiled faintly. "Perhaps, Vladimir just wanted to give you more time. He had always been in a rush. But this time, he might be considering your feelings. Once you do your vows in your wedding ceremony, then he will be more at ease to register your marriage after that."
Sabrina became more troubled after hearing her brother’s remarks.
"Bro, do you think... he had noticed something? Do I look like I’m still hesitating?"
Enzo gently patted her shoulder. "Sis, don’t overthink it. Vladimir might have just noticed that you’ve been stressed by all the revelations you’ve learned over the past few days. He probably just wanted to give you a breather. You already had a lot on your plate today. Registering your marriage today might not be the right timing given your situation."
Sabrina could only sigh deeply before nodding in agreement.
"You might be right, Bro."
They were still talking when they heard the ringing sound of the doorbell.
"It might be Vladimir."
Sabrina hastily stood up and rushed to the gate. She was dying to talk to Vladimir.
But the moment she opened the gate, Gael was the one who came into her view, not Vladimir.
"Hi, Sabby!"
"Gael, what brings you here? Come in."
Sabrina ushered Gael inside the house.
"Sabrina, there is something I must tell you today. I didn’t get a chance before, so I came back to talk to you."
Enzo and Sabrina exchanged glances with one another. They sensed the urgency in Gael’s voice. This might be something important.
"What is it, Gael?" she probed.
Gael swallowed hard before speaking up.
"Sab, the truth is... I overheard the conversation between Dominique and his doctor a few days ago..." He paused for a moment, observing her expression.
Sabrina glanced at him curiously. She seemed to be interested in what he was going to say, related to Dominique.
Gael exhaled deeply as he continued, "Dominique has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. It is still an early stage, however, he refused to undergo any treatment!"
