Chapter 290: How Could You Take Away My Woman?
Chapter 290: How Could You Take Away My Woman?
"They do miss you, but you may not want this treatment," Noah revealed Summer Lowell’s true thoughts, "You don’t have to worry about it affecting me. Since I dared to make this promise, I’ve naturally left myself some room to maneuver."
"President Norris, you don’t have to lie to me. Although I stay in the villa and don’t go out much, I’ve been paying attention to outside news. After Maxim Sinclair merged with other companies to swallow up Omni Group, he’s planning to target Stellart next."
Noah’s expression changed several times, then he comforted Summer Lowell, "Don’t blame yourself for this. Maxim Sinclair hates Stellart, and this day was bound to come sooner or later."
"No matter what the true cause of that incident was. During these past six months at the Stellarion Branch, President Norris, you’ve always taken good care of me, and I’m very grateful to you. But I am not someone who repays kindness with betrayal. When Maxim Sinclair gets angry, it’s terrifying. If the branch wants to maintain its foothold in Stellarion, it can’t provoke him, so I can’t go with you."
Persuasion was useless, and Noah sighed regretfully, "Do you know it took a lot of effort for me to come here and meet you? Maxim Sinclair will soon return from abroad, and his people will surely tell him about our meeting today. By then, it will be difficult for us to meet again."
"I know, I know," Summer Lowell smiled nonchalantly, "So, for the sake of the branch, President Norris, you should leave quickly."
"Since you think that way, I won’t stay long," Noah said, standing up and walking forward two steps before returning, looking at Summer Lowell, "At least we worked together for a while. It will probably be hard to reunite in the future. Please walk me over there, let’s have a few more words."
The other person came with good intentions to help her leave; Summer Lowell couldn’t refuse and smiled as she got up to walk with him to the parking area.
Noah stopped trying to persuade Summer Lowell to leave with him, chatting idly about miscellaneous things.
"All the villas around here are insanely expensive," Noah looked around and couldn’t help but click his tongue, "I can’t afford them, or even dare to imagine buying one. Maxim Sinclair is truly a talented young man! Luckily, I’m not his enemy."
Summer Lowell thought to herself, if I left with you today, you and Maxim Sinclair would indeed become enemies.
"President Norris is also a talented young man; you’ll buy a better house than this in the future," Summer Lowell said, referring to herself, "I’m the kind of person who doesn’t even dare to imagine."
"Don’t belittle yourself like that; one day, when you become a world-famous designer, you will be able to afford a better house than this."
The two exchanged flattering remarks until they reached the roadside, where Summer Lowell stopped, preparing to say goodbye to Noah.
Noah looked at her with a smile, and after she finished speaking, he suddenly leaned in, "Summer Lowell, there’s actually something I’ve never said out loud, I originally wanted to pursue you."
Summer Lowell was stunned by this sudden confession, instinctively frozen on the spot.
Just as she was dazed, Noah suddenly leaned closer, reaching out to cover her mouth.
Summer Lowell quickly snapped back to reality, raised her hand to push against his chest, struggling desperately.
The next moment, she lost consciousness.
Noah carefully placed Summer Lowell into the back seat of the car and instructed the driver and assistant, "Head straight to the private plane’s location, as fast as possible. Any further delay and Maxim Sinclair’s people will find out."
The driver received the order and slammed on the gas, speeding away.
They had just left the villa area, a street away, when their car was surrounded by Maxim Sinclair’s bodyguards, who had gotten the news a few minutes earlier.
The assistant anxiously looked outside the window, "What do we do, President Norris? Maxim Sinclair’s people have surrounded us."
"Stay in the car and watch over her. I’ll go down and try to negotiate with them."
Noah opened the door and got out. Just as he stood up, he noticed a gap opening between the line of cars blocking the way. He was about to jump back into the car to instruct the driver to rush out when another vehicle came through the gap.
Noah stared at the car, a bad premonition forming in his mind.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, Maxim Sinclair stepped out of the car.
Maxim Sinclair walked over with a stern face, striding up to Noah’s vehicle, looking at him with a half-smile, "President Norris, you’re welcome to visit, but you can’t take away those you shouldn’t."
"Hello, President Sinclair, but I don’t understand what you’re saying?" Noah stepped forward to block his view, not daring to admit anything about Summer Lowell.
Maxim Sinclair, uninterested in further talk, motioned for a female bodyguard, "Bring Mrs. Sinclair down."
The accompanying female bodyguard received the order and went forward, bringing Summer Lowell out from the back seat and placing her in front of Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim Sinclair took a spray bottle for reviving consciousness from someone and sprayed it near Summer Lowell’s nose.
Awoken by the spray, Summer Lowell slowly regained consciousness, and the first thing she saw was Maxim Sinclair glaring at Noah.
"How is it? Satisfied with what you’ve seen?"
Maxim Sinclair pulled her into his arms, half-embracing her, and taunted Noah, "President Norris, it doesn’t seem appropriate to take the lady of the house when visiting as a guest, right?"
Summer Lowell, though embarrassed, felt worried for Noah and tugged at Maxim Sinclair’s sleeve, "That’s enough. You’re tired from flying back. Let’s go home."
Maxim Sinclair lowered his head to look at Summer Lowell, "Are you pleading for your old boss?"
"President Norris just auctioned off some elegantly styled antique jewelry and invited me to view it. I was just dozing on his car earlier."
As Summer Lowell spoke, she kept sending glances to Noah, afraid he’d say something excessive that might provoke Maxim Sinclair.
"When speaking, you should look at me, because you’re talking to me," Maxim Sinclair pinched Summer Lowell’s chin, forcing her to look at him, "You seem eager to explain for him, which makes me a bit suspicious."
"Believe it or not, if you really don’t believe it, then there’s nothing I can do." Summer Lowell said no more, standing silently aside.
"Noah," Maxim Sinclair turned to Noah, "You haven’t even sorted out your own family affairs, and now you’re worrying about others?"
Noah, startled by his gaze, retorted unwillingly, "Summer Lowell and I have known each other for a long time. Can’t we meet and invite her out?"
"Everyone knows why you came here today," Maxim Sinclair said, leisurely patting Summer Lowell’s wrist, "This time, I’ll let it go for Summer Lowell’s sake. But if it happens again, you should know that the family backing you is not as resilient as the Huxley Family."
Saying this, Maxim Sinclair didn’t even glance at Noah, firmly holding Summer Lowell’s arm as they headed to his car, "Let’s go home. Don’t blindly trust outsiders. If I hadn’t returned in time today, would you have left with your old employer?"
"I said I was just going out for fun, why are you so suspicious!"
