Chapter 362 - 355: If I Lied to You, Would You Forgive Me?
Chapter 362 - 355: If I Lied to You, Would You Forgive Me?
Seeing him standing motionless, Clara Grant looked up at him, puzzled. "What’s wrong?"
Seth Quinn stirred and took the clothes. He looked calm, but a storm was raging inside him. "What made you decide to buy me clothes?"
He spoke as he let her help him put on the suit jacket.
Clara straightened his collar and smiled shyly. "The moment I saw it, I just knew you’d look great in it, so I bought it. Besides, you’ve given me so much clothing, plus that incredibly expensive pair of earrings. I haven’t gotten you a single present yet."
Then, as if another thought occurred to her, she added sheepishly, "Of course, using your money to buy you a gift feels a little weird, huh? But, it’s the thought that counts. I did put my heart into picking it out for you, right? When I have my own money, I’ll buy you something else."
’Seth’s heart overflowed with happiness. She actually thought to buy me clothes. She’s not just willing to spend my money now, she’s also buying things for me. Does that mean that, in her heart, she already sees me as her closest partner? That she’s completely accepted me as her husband?’
He reached out again, pulling her into his arms and resting his forehead against hers. He said softly, "My money is your money. I am yours. Is there anything that isn’t?"
Clara bit her lip in a shy smile, then gave him a light pat. "Stand still."
Seth did as he was told and stood still. Clara looked him over carefully and nodded in satisfaction. "You really do look amazing in it."
"That’s because you’re the one who picked it," Seth said with a smile.
In truth, with his great physique, Seth was a natural-born model. Combined with his handsome face, he looked good in anything. He could probably wear a torn burlap sack and people would think it was the latest in designer fashion.
But Clara accepted Seth’s praise without any false modesty.
"Okay, take it off, take it off! There’s another one." Clara picked up the other shopping bag and pulled out an outfit for him to try.
Seth frowned. "These are all for me?"
’She only made two purchases, and both were clothes for him. She didn’t buy a single thing for herself? And yet she spent the whole day shopping so happily?’
"Yep, all for you. It’s just two outfits, though," Clara said, helping him out of the jacket and handing him the other one.
"Why didn’t you buy anything for yourself?" Seth asked, a hint of displeasure in his voice as he went along with her.
"You’ve already bought me so much. Why would I need to buy more for myself? It would just be a waste," Clara said. Sensing his displeasure, she gave him a playful, chiding look.
"Don’t worry about it being a waste. I’m very good at making money."
"Alright, fine. Next time, I promise I’ll buy tons of things for myself and won’t save you a single penny!"
That seemed to satisfy Seth. He looked up, his gaze lingering on her for a moment, and asked casually, "So, besides buying clothes, what else did you get up to?"
Clara held up her hand and started counting on her fingers. "Ate, drank, and just had a good time."
"...Nothing else? Nothing... out of the ordinary happened?" Seth tested the waters cautiously.
At the mention of something out of the ordinary, Clara’s soaring spirits instantly plummeted. "Seth, you said Cherie’s mother took him back to the U.S.A. Is that really true?"
"Why?" Seth asked, not answering her question.
"At the mall today, I think I saw Cherie’s mother. I couldn’t catch her, so I’m not sure if it was really her, but I just have this feeling that I wasn’t mistaken. But," Clara glanced at him before continuing, "you wouldn’t lie to me. So I guess I must have seen wrong."
Seth watched her with a deep, searching gaze. Then, affecting a joking tone, yet choosing his words with extreme care, he said, "Clara, if—and I’m just saying *if*—I had lied to you about something... would you... forgive me?"
